Where To Start?

Have you made the decision to have an outdoor landscape lighting system installed at your home? If you have, you have perhaps made the easiest decision (but probably the most crucial) as you embark on this journey but you need to take that first step to begin that journey. There are a lot of questions that you will need to answer as you go forward but the big question is where do you start?

A Lot Of Questions To Answer

You have a lot of questions that will need to be answered like what kind of fixtures you want installed and what type of bulb you will want. Where will these fixtures be located and how will or can they be incorporated into your current backyard layout and design? This should be the first thing that you think of and this can be done with some simple research on the Internet or by just using your imagination long before you look for someone to handle the installation.

That is of course not to say that this will be the end product but it can at least be a starting point. Knowing what features you want illuminated or what you want illuminated in general is probably the best place to start.

What Do You Want The Lighting To Do?

Another early thing that you need to figure out is what the goal of your landscape lighting system should do. That is, is it to increase the security of your property or to enhance your home’s beauty or appearance? Or both? By figuring out what the lighting is intended to do it will be easier to determine what fixtures and lighting should be installed and where it should be located when a professional like Resort Lighting comes out to demonstrate the lighting for you.

Find A Professional

With a general idea of what you want to get out of a landscape lighting system (or even if you don’t have one) it would be best to contact a professional installer. A professional installer like Resort Lighting can help to determine if what you are considering can be done, if it can, how it will look and ultimately estimate the price of the job.

For the average person they do not have the equipment to simulate what something like artificial moonlight will look like and they may not even know that is possible. A professional installer can simulate what it will look like as well as different intensities and angles. These simulations allow a customer to make a more educated decision and also to allow the customer to see what it will look like so there will be no surprises when the system is ultimately installed.

You might be surprised just what can be done with landscape lighting these days.

Having A Plan Is Good

A customer that has done their research and has at least formulated a basic plan can make the process go much smoother for everyone involved. Knowing where to start like figuring out what you want from a landscape lighting system and considering a basic layout can help to make Resort Lighting’s visit go much faster and the installation go much smoother.

That is of course not to say that this is a requirement. You work a day job and may not have time to do the proper amount of research. You might just want to see the differences in the lighting options before deciding on what you want to do. Or you might have no idea and just want to start with a blank slate, though chances are you have at least run through some options in your head. That is OK too and at Resort Lighting, we can help.

You don’t need to know your amp from your kelvin from your lumen. Resort Lighting is here to help and we can handle everything from the design to the installation to the maintenance after the system is installed. We are your one stop shop for outdoor landscape lighting on Long Island.
