There are a number of small things that can be done around the home that can have a big influence on the value of the property of a home. One of the easiest and most obvious is to have outdoor lighting installed and this can have a major effect on not only the curb appeal of the home but also your own well being.

First take a look at the other homes on your street. Do they have outdoor or landscape lighting? If they do and you do not you should probably have it installed and the reasons are more than just being a copycat with your neighbors. When the time comes to sell the home a prospective buyer may think that you were cheap or negligent when they compare your home to others in the neighborhood and they may not be willing to pay as much for the home or may just look elsewhere. Those buyers would not be wrong.
Not just for show, but for safety.
An outdoor lighting system has practical uses as well, it’s not just for show. Safety is on everyone’s mind and outdoor lighting can be an essential component of that. Not only does it allow you to walk around your property at night it also helps to deter people you do not want on your property. Think about it, if a burglar wants to break into a home which home would they target, a well lit one or one sitting in the dark?
Even if you are not planning on moving anytime soon outdoor lighting has other practical uses. It allows you and your family to spend more time outside enjoying anything from a spectacular sunset, the cool breezes that come in the late summertime or to make snow angels after a snowfall.
Is it a good fit for you?
Combine your safety and security along with a potentially hefty increase in your property’s value (some believe up to 20%) and an outdoor lighting system just makes too much sense. It is something that can add thousands of dollars to the value of the property and be worth several times the investment to have it installed. But more importantly you can’t put a price tag on your own safety and security, which makes an outdoor lighting system priceless.
